Principle

For many years, protecting water has become a necessity. Water is exposed to various sources of pollution which are difficult to control. In addition, it is imperative to improve the quality of consumed and discarded water.
The presence of pathogenic micro-organisms in water is hazardous to consumers’ health. Agriculture, farming and industry also need solutions to improve the quality of their drinking water.
Ultraviolet radiation at the specific wavelength of 253.7 nanometres inactivates pathogenic micro-organisms within seconds, causing photochemical reactions on their DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). An abnormal link is created on the DNA chain of the bacterium which loses its ability to reproduce. Cell division fails to occur and the micro-organism becomes harmless.

  9. Maintenance: it is limited to changing lamps
  10. No pH dependence
  11. No additional corrosion due to reagent over dosage
  12. In the case of industrial use, no risk of adverse reactions
  13. More effective action than chlorine on some viruses and bacteria

Regulations

  1. The dose recommended by the General Department of Health (Circular of 19 January 1987) is 25 mJ/cm2 minimum for consumption water
  2. For designing our UV sterilizers we apply the biodosimetry method and the dose of 40 mJ/cm2
  3. The effectiveness of our sterilizers has been determined by biodosimetric testing; some examples:
